The Tyre Education for Schools (TEFORS) programme has received a ringing endorsement from the Tyre Industry Federation.
Tyre Industry Federation members include all the trade associations representing manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, collectors and re processors in the UK tyre market. It enjoys a leading role in supporting cross-industry initiatives and in promoting the tyre industry to the Government.
Graham Willson, Secretary of the Tyre Industry Federation, says of TEFORS, “We are delighted to endorse this important initiative, which demonstrates how the Green Economy is transforming challenging wastes into valuable products.
“The Tyre Education for Schools programme uses a product we are all familiar with, the tyre, to explore important issues related to sustainable development. TEFORS offers pupils the opportunity to apply their numeracy and literacy skills to topical real-life issues.
“It also illustrates how the business community can contribute to delivering today’s environmental agenda. In addition, TEFORS provides an opportunity for players throughout the tyre industry to demonstrate their commitment to responsibly recycling used tyres.”
David Bavaird, who has developed the TEFORS programme, warmly welcomed the TIF’s endorsement, “In the short few months that TEFORS has been running, it has attracted widespread interest from within the industry and the TIF have been of great assistance in ensuring that the technical content of the TEFORS programme is correct and we are delighted to receive this endorsement.’’
“We are very proud of TEFORS and the valuable work it does in schools, encouraging an interest in tyre safety and tyre recycling in an educational context and we look forward to working with all sectors in the industry in the coming months as the programme develops.’’
